‘DUBAI ASSURED’ safety initiative receives huge response

As Dubai continues to welcome visitors following the reopening of the city to tourists in July, many more tourism and retail establishments, as well as attractions and entertainment centres have been awarded the ‘DUBAI ASSURED’ stamp for complying with the wide range of health and safety protocols put in place by the relevant authorities to combat the pandemic.

The ‘DUBAI ASSURED’ stamp is given to companies and entities after they successfully undergo a stringent verification and validation process under the citywide compliance programme that was launched just over a month ago, as part of efforts to reassure global travellers that Dubai continues to be one of the world’s safest destinations.

Nearly 90% of Dubai’s hotel establishments have so far received the ‘DUBAI ASSURED’ stamp while the remaining hotels are currently going through the inspection process. All leading shopping malls, family entertainment centres and retail outlets at traditional markets - the Al Fahidi Souq, Gold Souq, Spice Souq, Textile Souq and the Perfume Souq - have also been inspected and given the ‘DUBAI ASSURED’ safety seal.  All indoor and outdoor attractions such as theme parks and waterparks have also been inspected under the compliance programme.

The ‘DUBAI ASSURED’ compliance programme was launched in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), Department of Economic Development (Dubai Economy) and Dubai Municipality and is based on the preventive protocols issued by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.

Khalid Saeed Bin Touq, Executive Director, Tourism Activities and Classification Sector, Dubai Tourism, commented:

“The success of the ‘DUBAI ASSURED’ compliance programme is mainly due to the effective citywide management of the pandemic under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It also reflects Dubai’s commitment to maintain the highest level of safety preparedness and to reassure travellers that they can expect the same level of safety across all tourism touchpoints in the city. As Dubai Tourism constantly looks at ways to further enhance safety measures, we extend our deepest appreciation to all our industry stakeholders and partners for their collective resolve to ensure the health and safety of our residents and visitors.”

The specially designed ‘DUBAI ASSURED’ stamp is issued free of charge and will be valid for 15 days. It will be renewed every two weeks upon further verification by inspectors from the three government entities.  The stamp serves as a visual identity reassuring guests that all safety and hygiene measures have been complied with across all tiers and categories of tourist and resident touchpoints.

In recognition of Dubai’s commitment to ensuring the safety of visitors by successfully implementing the stringent health and safety protocols, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has endorsed Dubai as a safe destination, giving the city the global Safe Travels stamp.
