Charity Projects - Ramadan 2020

During Ramadan, both fasting and acts of charity are obligatory upon Muslims who are able to do so. Muslims are reminded to be generous and increase their charitable activities. Below are a few ways in which you can contribute during the holy month of Ramadan from the comfort of your home.

10 million meals initiative

The ‘10 million meals’ campaign is the UAE’s biggest community campaign, launched under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives in collaboration with Social Solidarity Fund Against Covid-19, to provide food assistance to less fortunate families and individuals. The campaign enables corporates, entities, humanitarian and charitable organizations, businessmen, philanthropists and the public to make financial contributions towards providing meals or donate food items and parcels to be directly distributed to families and individuals across the UAE. Donations can be made online, via SMS, bank transfer, or as in-kind donations.

World's Tallest Donation Box

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), in collaboration with Burj Khalifa, launched the World’s Tallest Donation Box to illuminate the iconic skyscraper’s 1.2 million lights in an act of solidarity that will raise donations to provide meals for hard-hit communities by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic across the country. Launched as part of the ’10 million meals’ campaign, the World’s Tallest Donation Box enables companies, entities and the public to purchase lights of Burj Khalifa, for as little as Dh10 each, to collectively donate 1.2 million meals or food parcels to individuals and families affected by the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in the UAE. For every light purchased for Dh10 through the website , one meal is provided to someone in need, as part of the UAE’s social efforts to support the most vulnerable against the economic and humanitarian challenges posed by the global pandemic.

Beit Al Khair Society

Beit Al Khair is one of the leading organizations in the field of providing outstanding humanitarian services in UAE. It aims to provide financial and in-kind assistance to the needy in UAE through innovative programs and projects, support for needy students in various stages of education and to cooperate with institutions working in UAE to promote social responsibility towards the UAE society. Search around the house and gather clothes, furniture, toys, food, books, and other items that you can't use or simply don't need anymore. Rather than tossing those items away in the garbage, it is more environmentally friendly and generous to pass on your unwanted items to those who will find them useful or can't afford to buy the same. Head to the Beit Al Khair donation drop box or site closest to you to give away the items as charity. You can also donate with a minimum amount of AED10 through SMS via Etisalat and Du or make a bank transfer.
