Beauty Rituals During Quarantine

With the self isolation practice in place, and self-care facilities being temporarily closed across the city, the responsibility of grooming ourselves is now completely in our hands. Here are a few beauty tips as well as advice on how to keep yourself together to avoid looking like a hot mess before you can go back to your favorite salons and spas.

Skin Care

With ample free time on hand, now is a great time to develop a dedicated skincare routine for yourself. Wash and cleanse your face using a good cleansing gel at least twice a day to refresh and get rid of any excess oil or dirt on your skin; exfoliate regularly to avoid clogged pores and breakouts; hydrate your skin with moisturizers and serums enriched with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5 to help retain water on your skin’s surface; and don't forget the SPF to protect your skin against harmful UV rays when you hop out in the balcony to get fresh air or when you go out for a quick visit to the grocery store. You can also put on your favorite sheet masks or homemade DIY masks as a quick and fun way to take care of your skin.

Nail Care

Now that your favorite nail salon is closed for safety reasons, it is time for you to take charge and make sure your nails remain in the best shape possible. Due to the constant hand-washing and sanitizing activity, it is vital to keep the nails hydrated and stop them from getting too dry. Rub hydrating jelly, moisturizers and essential nail oils on a regular basis. There are a few essential nail supplies that you should always try to keep on hand and can be easily bought online. The items include acetone, nail polish remover, a base and top coat, a nail file, nail clippers and a cuticle pusher. Moreover, salons such as 'Tip and Toes' are offering various DIY Nail Kits. You can choose between different kits designed for your specific nail needs. Whether it is to to remove the remnants of your last gel manicure or for a complete DIY home pampering session, they have got you covered.

Hair Care

Due to self isolation your hair will finally get a break from the damage caused by using heat for straightening or curling it, or applying various hair products for styling it. It's time to nourish your hair as much as you can before you get back to your preisolation hair routine. Every now and then, apply some oil on your scalp and massage using your fingertips. This will hydrate your hair, promote hair growth and increase blood circulation in your scalp. Use lukewarm water to wash your hair and always apply conditioner after shampooing to make your hair softer and easier to detangle. You can also apply DIY hair masks made with natural ingredients to fix dry, damaged, weak, or dull hair.

Experiment

Staying at home means no physical contact with friends, family and colleagues. That means it is the perfect time to experiment with different makeup and beauty products without having to worry about the consequences of facing people if things don't go quite the way expected them to. Grab your eyeshadow palette and put on colors that you wouldn't otherwise opt for, this will give you an idea of whether those colors suit you or not. Watch online tutorials on various makeup techniques to brush up on your skills. Not just makeup, you can also experiment with skincare products. Apply various face masks, scrubs, moisturizers to see which one works best for you. If you are bored of how your hair looks, this is the perfect time to look for ideas and inspiration for experimenting different hairstyles and hair care products. Once you step out after quarantine, get ready to surprise everyone with a new look!

Clean up & organize

Since the outings, gathering and parties have been temporarily put on hold, we are all waiting for the next time we can put on some makeup and glam up. Since the cosmetics are not currently in use, this is the best time to clean up and sort out your makeup drawer. To start off with, remove all items from your drawer as it is simpler to tidy up a space when you empty it first, then organize items back into the space. Clean up broken bits and pieces left on the surface of the drawer and also thoroughly wash all your makeup brushes. Throw out all the items that are either expired or won't be used and also make a list of items that you need to buy. Next,  assemble the similar items together and afterward place them in the compartments most appropriate for their size. That's all! It is a simple activity that will save you time in future and you will feel glad you cleaned up every time you open your makeup drawer!
